Introduction

The Hanyang Intercollege Future Society Design Program aims to cultivate talent capable of establishing comprehensive visions and presenting multidisciplinary solutions for the complex challenges (super-wicked problems) of the 21st century, including climate change, the AI transformation, industrial-energy transition, low birth rates and aging society, balanced regional development, and sustainable cities. To achieve this goal, the program builds upon the phenomenon-based multidisciplinary and convergence problem-solving capabilities learned in the first-year curriculum. Students will study both the exploration and practical resolution of these complex challenges through economic, business, social, and legal knowledge, alongside engineering solutions in areas such as resource and environment, urban planning, energy, and data science. Through this educational framework, the program seeks to nurture future society leaders who can drive sustainable and just social transformation by combining diverse stakeholder perspectives with pluriversal viewpoints.
